Protect your parents from "digital arrest" and phone scams

The call sounds official: police, a court, a bank, a courier with a "parcel in your name". Then the pressure starts. Stay on the video call. Don't tell anyone. Move your money to a "safe account" to clear your name. There is no such thing as a "digital arrest", but frightened elders, especially those who live alone, believe it.

Scammers win by keeping the person alone and scared. OkayFolk Scam Shield breaks that. On their big-button page there is a Scam Shield button, and on WhatsApp they can simply reply SCAM. The whole family is alerted at once, and your parent sees a calm STOP screen: hang up, never share an OTP, never send money, and the numbers to call, including India's cyber-fraud helpline 1930.

How it works

  1. Add your parent

Name, phone and country. Their private page is ready in a minute, in English or Hindi.

  2. Show them the Scam Shield button

Tell them: if anyone asks for money, an OTP, or says "police" or "arrest", press this or reply SCAM on WhatsApp.

  3. The family hears at once

Every guardian and backup contact gets an alert to call them right now, before any money moves.

Questions

Does OkayFolk listen to my parent's calls?

No. OkayFolk never listens to calls or reads messages. Your parent decides when to press Scam Shield.

What should we do if money was already sent?

In India, call the cyber-fraud helpline 1930 at once and report on cybercrime.gov.in. The sooner it is reported, the better the chance to stop the transfer. Elsewhere, call your bank and the local police.

Is "digital arrest" real?

No. Police and courts do not arrest people on phone or video calls and never ask for money to settle a case.
